It's very in-yer-face religious for a supposed international currency, not to mention one from that bastion of institutional secularism, France. The Latin legend references God directly, which I suppose at a pinch could be said to refer to any god the reader chooses. But underneath are the letters AMDG, which stand for Ad majorem Dei gloriam, to the greater glory of God - the motto of the Society of Jesus.
