Vatican: Two €2 Commemorative Coins in 2018
« on: January 13, 2018, 12:35:41 PM »
The Vatican plans to issue two commemorative €2 coins this year. According to what Nerone69 writes, one will be dedicated to the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018. More background is here for example:
https://europa.eu/cultural-heritage/ (European Commission website, in various languages)
https://sharingheritage.de/en/ (German Monument Protection website, in English and German)

The second coin honors Padre Pio who died 50 years ago. The designs of the two coins are not known yet ...

Vatican: Two €2 Commemorative Coins in 2018

Two commemoratives per year from Vatican and San Marino is increasingly becoming a financial burden for those who collect them. As for Vatican, each BU version costs €18 (2017 price) and proof version costs €37 each. So an expense of €110 just for four coins (shipping extra) and that too if you are lucky enough to get them directly from the UFN. ::)
