ساتو رڠڬية‎

= Chinese: One Dollar / Jawi: One Ringgit

The British Trade Dollar was designed by George William De Saulles and minted from 1895 for Hong Kong and the Straits Settlements. But after the Straits dollar was introduced to the Straits Settlements in 1903, it became exclusively a Hong Kong coin, produced until 1935.

This one just acquired dated 1911 is from the Bombay mint, it has a small B on centre prong of trident.

Other dates in my collection are 1897; 1899; 1900; 1908; 1930.

I have a 1912. I think they are neat coins, congratulations!

Not sure I like this one Mal - what's the weight of it?
Hope it's just the scan causing the odd colour / toning.

It is a bit scruffy and scan doesn't show true colour but it is indeed silver and full weight 26.9g. My scale doesn't show the second decimal point but it is between 26.9g-27g.

Still don't like it - sorry.

I can't find a picture of genuine coin with the date numerals 'wonky' like the coin above.

I've rotated it slightly but it could be dodgy.
