Does anyone have the following article (and is willing to email me a copy):

Leslie C. Hill: "Centennial Aspects of British Columbia Numismatics" in Canadian Numismatic Journal, vol. 3, no. 7 (July 1958), p. 179-189.

if so, please contact me

thanks

It's just possible that the RNSNZ will have this publication in its library - two downsides are that (a) its periodicals are disorganised and not catalogued, so it's down to a search of shelves and boxes, and (b) I won't be at the September meeting so will have to ask if someone else can have a look instead.  I'll give it a try in any case.

Alternatively, contacting the RCNS directly might be best.

Harald,
The British Columbian coins dated 1862 are pattern coins,as the Governor,Sir James Douglas, was refused permission to establish a mint in British Columbia.

Hi Harald,

I was able to pop in to the RNSNZ this evening and they had the July 1958 CNJ on the shelf, so I have brought it home with me. Let me know if you still need the article text and I'll scan it for you.  Pse PM me your address for good measure.

Regards,

Martin,
Kevin Mills was totally wrong regarding the British Columbian gold coins when he asked that at this year's Levin Interclub Meeting.

He claimed that they were issued as circulating currency, but I know full well that Governor Sir James Douglas was refused permission to establish a mint in British Columbia,as the issuing of coinage is the monarch's prerogative alone, not the Governor's.
