CHINA RE medal 2000AD
« on: November 15, 2017, 09:23:18 PM »
I found this 999 silver one ounce medal in Edinburgh in 2008, minted by the Shangai mint, only 350 minted. I have searched all over the net and have never seen another, has anyone seen this before?

The first five characters are 中国再保险 (China reinsurance), known in the financial world as China Re. It is a financial behemoth, but its activities are concentrated in China. The logo doesn't fit, but it may have changed after 2000.

I strongly suspect that this is what is known as an expensive tchotchke: a gift for (potential) clients.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.
