Small rectangular undated civic copper of Yazd
21x 18mm / 6,86g
smooth but still readable legend with nice clear brown patina.
Yazd coppers show numerous designs ( lion, lion & sun, hare, peacock, pigeon ?, cheetah seizing gazelle, angel, monkey, libra...) but curiously thr lion attacking an animal is uncommon for this city.

What looks like a hunting scene, may look very different if an important local family's crest or clan symbol contains a deer, while the shah's symbol is a lion?

Thank you Peter for this point of view; I am not sure that it is necessary to look here for hidden symbols, but simply it's a popular image of a lion attacking another animal, among other designs; a cheetah or an eagle attacking a deer are also seen on civic coppers
Even if the lion is the royal symbol, we must not forget that these coins were not struck by the shah but by the provincial governors.
