I found this be-stickered coin in change in Amsterdam in 1997.  It obviously didn't work ...

So that was even before the Dutch "no" to te EU constitution. We are such a troublesome people. I like the extensive argumentation, the many footnotes and the large bibliography :-\, but I wonder what they meant by displaying their knowledge of the negative in other languages when this coin could only circulate in the Netherlands. ::)
