Some of the Crown post offices now have the BU and Proof coins in stock.

Meanwhile there is no coin for Rupert Bear, who is English. It's becoming increasingly clear that "Paddington" was only brought in from Peru to drive down our Rupert's wages. Rupert could once no doubt have commanded 100 thousand pounds for posing for a 50 pence design, but "Paddington" was probably content with a couple of jars of marmalade. Time was, UKIP would have organised an emergency meeting about this and picketed the Royal Mint. No wonder nobody votes for UKIP any more.  ::)

So the release of these RAF coins brings a further four to fruition from eurocoin's original post.

I'm glad I knew about these already.  Anyone that didn't must be wondering when new coin issues are going to end for this year.

We still have the Captain Cook coin left, plus the two Paddington Bear 50p coins.  Anything else I've missed?

Captain Cook's voyage - design details of first of three coins is now known.

eurocoin has already posted a photo of it earlier today - see page 10.  It did get a bit buried with the Paddington talk though.  :)

Sorry, is this the Captain Cook coin or the Paddington?  I'm assuming the former, but with there being the coloured proof Paddington coin you posted, I'm not sure which you meant.

Interesting.  Was it Gibraltar or Isle of Man that's already done the Snowman, I can't remember?  There was a sense of inevitability that the Royal Mint would eventually go down the Christmas 50p line.  At least it is actually the 40th anniversary of Raymond Briggs' book.

The Royal Mint seems to be doing all the cartoons. I'm waiting for the Japanese porn anime (does that exist, it must do) coins.

Correct indeed, the Isle of Man issued 2 different coins with illustrations featuring characters of the book.

The Britannia coin is rather unusual this year.

Figleaf

Neo-classical saccharine style, harking back to 1925, when the empire was at its zenith and real men filled rooms with cigar smoke while playing whist, unobserved by any women. Given the nostalgic references to the British Commonwealth of Leavers it may well be a sop to that part of the market. The Daily Mail will love it. At least, unlike the antique children books figures, it is politically relevant.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

Is this for the Royal Mint?
