Both coins are now on eBay. As for the one that is already at 15k, obviously the bidder is not going to pay for it.

Shill bidding by the seller himself, perhaps?

No, just people who think they are funny.

Yes, allegedly people in coin groups on Facebook bidding on it to up the price.  To be fair it serves the seller right.  They have no feedback rating so clearly they've registered on eBay purely for the purpose of making a quick buck on this coin.

It is indeed true that one or more people of a specific coin collecting group on Facebook that is full of chavs are behind this. In my opinion there is nothing wrong with the seller's aim to make a quick buck. After all this very young lady who got the coin in her change and on whose behalf the coin is being sold is not interested in coins and of course there will always be some idiot who is willing to pay more just for the exclusivity of owning the coin before it is being issued. The serious bids went up to 55 pounds.

2 further coins have now been found bringing the total to 4. One of the 2 last ones was found in Birmingham. We can now be sure the mint has accidentally released a batch of these.

And all four are on eBay, including the Birmingham one.

Regarding eBay, isn't it stupidity on all sides?  The seller for trying to make a huge profit on a coin that's worth 50p; a serious buyer that's willing to pay a ridiculous price rather than wait a few weeks; and Facebook group members making a mockery of it by placing fake high bids.  I can't say I support any party.

I like it, it's the sort of standard of coin that you should expect every time, but as time progresses is lacking (not just British coins either).

Alan71

Yes, that's a nice design.  I'd almost forgotten about that one coming out this year.

Apparently it will be a jigsaw with the 2 - 2 pounds coins that will be issued in years to come. They will together form the ship.

Now suddenly also a proof version has appeared.. Very, very strange.

And meanwhile, another two Paddington coins from circulation on eBay, bringing it up to six.
