Rangoli

I saw one of the ancient Mughal period coins near my grandmother, they are very beautiful and heavy. The coin is made of silver with a print of beautiful rangoli designs on them on one side. Mughal king image on the other side of the coin. It's one of the beautiful coin I had ever seen.

Mughals were muslims; they never had their picture on their coins. From your description, you may have seen a British Indian rupee. If you can show a picture, we can tell you more.

This is about the nearest design I can imagine. In silver there is no image of the Emperor.
