Who has seen an Acehnese coin?

There were very few issues from this fiercely independent sultanate at the northern tip of Sumatra.

Aceh has been in the news in recent years, due to the insurrection against the Indonesian Government prior to the 2004 tsunami .

The tin Kepings coins of Atcheh are common. I have seven tin coins and six older gold coins in my collection. But I never saw the piece of two Kepings in copper ...

Alexander,
Can you please upload some photos on here,or better still, put a link to your gallery on Zeno in the signature line of your profile?

That way,we can see your Acehnese coins for ourselves.

Aidan.

I don't have them put on zeno, but I will show them here perhaps. I need some time. I hate to scan ... specially after my third beer.  ;D

The obvious solution is to skip your third beer and have your fourth immediately after your second. That way, you can have it after your tenth and you have a credible story: "I went home after my third".

Here are two kepings, one a bit cruder than the other. These are not very good scans, but I am too cheap to take the coins out of their holder.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

Here is a Kupang of Atcheh.

It's not a coin of Atjeh, but a Singapore merchant token. All the double kepings of that series are hard to find.
