Pls see the comparison between the fake and genuine for one of the coins - 1000 Years of Bhrihadeeswarar Temple.

The image on the left is of fake coin and that on right in of my genuine coin.

Thank you, Kansal! It looks like the criminals copied a genuine coin on a much larger scale and made it smaller to fit the size of the flan so that the details would be sharp. With this excellent comparison picture, it is possible to spot the fakes even if you don't have the genuine coin, as long as you have a picture of the coin for sale. Just scale it as the fraudsters did.

Caution. The low-hanging fruits are still there maybe for a reason.

Thank you for posting it. It really helps.

The below is not related but just want to share my experience here. I noticed a dealer selling fake coins in the exhibition held in Bangalore. I am not a very experienced collector but had recently bought a set of US coins(state quarters) and  I have also dealt with many US circulation coins earlier. So I could recognize the fake US dollar they had (by observing weight, edge ). And then when I checked the other coins closely, I realized that they too could be fake. Now in those cases, whom do we report it to?Would serious action be taken since it was an coin exhibition?

If some one spots a fake at a coin fair, it should be immediately reported to the organizers. They are duty bound (unless they support fake sellers) to take action.
Here in Gujarat, I have seen dealers being asked to put away fakes or face being thrown out....... stall rent forfeited.
