Pleased to find this overdate - couldn't really tell from the seller's pictures. KM # 792.1

Hi,

maybe yes, maybe not, as the saying goes in Normandy, France!!!!

Ole

I'm not in Normandy Ole, so I'm convinced! ;)

Figleaf

I am convinced. Overdate.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

Thulium

I also think it is 1899/7. The corner of the 7 is visible, as is the downstroke in the lower portion of the 9.  :)

Attempted conservation of this 1904 1 ore has turned up another nice little overdate - 1904/804. Never seen one before and wouldn't have found this one if I hadn't patiently dug the muck out of the date with a pin.  :o

Thulium

Yes, I also see the markers for a 9/8  :)

mrbadexample

Thanks Thulium. This one's a little less convincing: 1902 / 802?  ???

Thulium

It could be, since the underlying digit looks wider than the "9"--as is the 8. It may be that more of the underlying 8 was polished out.

mrbadexample

I think I'm inclined to agree, 9/8. It could be a recut 9 but does appear a little wider, as you say.

Yes--also looks like it! :)
Here's a couple of my coins showing 9/8:

Globetrotter

I have my small doubts about the "normal" coins from these three documentations, since the coins in my collection are all over date variants! So I hunted on internet in the hope of finding the "normals", please see below.
