New commemorative 5 Pound coin of the Isle of Man, soon to be issued for the 110th anniversary of the Tourist Trophy. It will be made out of the same alloy as their new 5 pound coin that was issued earlier this year. Wether this commemorative will be put into circulation, I do not know. This information is exclusive to World of Coins Forum.

According to the Treasury of the Isle of Man the coin was issued today. It is however nowhere available yet..

Can't say I like the actual design much, bit of a let down as usual with Tower Mint products.
always willing to trade modern UK coins for modern coins from elsewhere....

What's with the other side? Didn't I just read on this very site that the baubles had to be photoshopped away?

Peter
An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

That was only for the portrait that is being used for the UK coinage. And actually the particular article is very old news as this fact was already mentioned at the time of the launch.

What's wrong with that color...or is it just photography effect?

Photography effect. Taking into account they were minted at Tower Mint, these commemorative 5 pounds coins were of a remarkable high quality. I have only heard complaints about the design and also more specific about the face of that thing that holds the caduceus.

Even although the 110th anniversary was last year, the Tower Mint has now shamelessly re-issued this coin with the date 2018. Allegedly it was the Isle of Man Government that came up with the creative idea to re-issue it.

They should have at-least changed the subject to '111 Years'....it's a fancy number afterall. ;D
