Cuba, new 5 pesos cubanos circulating coin

Hi! I'm glad to let you know that we should open a gap in our collections for a new bimetallic coin that will be put in circulation the next July 3rd.

Please, do not confuse CUC and CUP, the already existent 5 pesos coins with the portrait of "El Che" has it value in "Pesos convertibles", CUC, that is a 1/1 with the US dollar. The new coin is expressed just in pesos, thats mean "Pesos cubanos" or CUP.

1 CUC = 25 CUP

It is an standard circulating coin that will complete the series of CUP circulation coins consisting in: 1, 2, 5 and 20 centavos, 1, 3 and, from now on, 5 pesos cubanos.

The 5 Pesos banknote remains in circulation

Banco Central de Cuba  says that the most important  reason for this 5-Pesos  coin Is that the life of the coin is longer than the life of the banknote
