Parisii swastika and face, bronze
« on: June 06, 2017, 04:58:57 PM »
Possibly, my first Parisii piece.  Parisii swastika or 'Lauburu' and face
Bronze
1.82g
12.3mm
I thought the face was a clover leaf  ::)
There is an example of one here
Usual question, is it real?  Don't mind if it isn't.  The truth is more important! 8)
Many thanks ;D

FWIW, catalogued in "Nouvel Atlas des monnaies Gauloises, I. de la Seine au Rhin" by Delestrée and Tache as DT 406 var. The var refers to the direction of the swastika.

From the CGB site you linked to:

Obv: front view of a face or mask. The outline of the face is a dotted circle.
Rev: swastika with curves to the left

The specimen BN 5714 is referenced in the treatise of S. Scheers and described as a potin coin in the inventory of Muret and Chabouillet. All published specimen seem to have a swastika to the right on the reverse.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

Thanks for that Peter  ;D
I should have done it myself! ;)
Not seeing "The outline of the face is a dotted circle" on mine  :-\  Having said that all I can see is pitting on the cgb example.  :-[
