Falkland Islands: Unrealised designs by Pobjoy Mint
« on: May 28, 2017, 04:13:03 PM »
In this topic unrealised designs can be seen that were submitted by Pobjoy Mint to the Falkland Islands Government for use on collectors coins. All of the designs in this topic were approved by the Falkland Islands Government. It is likely that HM Queen Elizabeth II didn't approve them and that that is why they were never used.

In 2008, Pobjoy Mint submitted a design that depicts portraits of Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince Harry with the late Queen Mother. It was meant for a 1 crown coin that was to be issued for the 60th anniversary of Prince Charles.

For the diamond jubilee of HM Queen Elizabeth II in 2012, the Pobjoy Mint submitted a design for a 1 crown coin that was to be issued in 2011. The design features a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II with the flags of the three armed forces to the right and a crown surmounting letters ER to the left. The design was more than likely made by designer David Cornell.
