Earlier this year, Swissmint issued a 20 fr collector coin dedicated to the 1517 Reformation. The silver coin focuses on and depicts the Swiss reformers Calvin and Zwingli. Regular version costs 30 fr, proof 60 fr.

And then there is ... Yodeling. On the latest 20 fr coin you can see it but not hear it. ;) The coin does not refer to any occasion, but the reason why it was issued now is the 30th Federal Yodeling Festival in Brig. They expect about 15,000 performers and an audience of more than 150,000 in June. Images (3): Swissmint.

And now ... meet Barry. :)  The world's most famous "Bernhardiner" (St. Bernard dog) lived about 200 years ago and saved the lives of more than 40 people in the Alps. He can still be seen, as a stuffed exhibit, at a museum in Bern: http://www.barry.museum  You can now buy a "Barry" gold coin, face value 50 fr (Au 900), mintage 4300 (proof only). The coin, designed by Maya Delaquis, costs 580 CHF ...

At the Zurich Coin Fair next month, Swissmint will not only have a booth but, for an hour, also a (living) Bernard dog. :) So if you show up at the right time (between 14 and 15 h on Saturday), you can buy the coin, get an autograph of the designer, and have a photo taken - of you and the dog ...

(In case you come earlier or later, you can still make your purchases at the booth of course.)

Internationale Münzenmesse Zürich - see here
28-29 October 2017, Swissôtel Zürich-Oerlikon
Opening hours*: Sat 9-17 h (admission 10 fr), Sun 10-16 h (5 fr)

(* info from last year's show)
