Yes, I see it now. I've highlighted the flower in red, in my unsteady hand. (The steady one is on holiday).

Two sketches now by Robert Elderton, for the Falkland Islands. The top one was issued.

I am now sure that it is the black orchid. Not a clue on what the right flower is, but I suspect it is also a plant that is endemic to Belize.

Peter

I looked them up in Gerhard's WMK: Heliconia aurantiaca and Malvaviscus arboreus.  He has the other info I posted, so I would suppose he is correct. He usually is. I couldn't lay my hands on the book for a while, because I was having a big tidy-up.

Falkland Islands, 100 pounds, 1990.  Queen Mother's 90th birthday.  Design by Robert Elderton.

This was a gold coin. A gold 25 pounds coin was also issued with the same design.
