If that's a trial strike either the press urgently needed maintenance or the coin was severely mis-handled after striking. In addition, the black goo suggests either a filthy press or circulation. Spectacular piece, though.

The black goo are in fact little holes on the flan (porous flan).
I think they may have use some bad quality aluminium flan in the mint in order to check the alignment before strike the normal coins (the alignment of this coin is medal strike but Numista indicate that it should be coin alignment).
So it maybe a test token rather than a trial strike but I don't really know the difference...
