German States: Mecklenburg-Gustrow 3 pfennigs 1692
« on: March 24, 2017, 06:10:01 PM »
I believe I have correctly attributed this coin as per the title, KM#109.

The listing in my copy of SCWC gives two variants. I'm not 100% sure but it seems that one had (a) mintmark(s)? Am I correct in my understanding?

Can someone tell me where the mintmark would appear, if present? I'm not sure whether mine is without marks, or if the mark is in an area too worn to see.

Any further information on the coin would be appreciated.
Thanks,
MBE

It seems like the only possible place would be below the ribbon tying the two branches of the wreath.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

I'd agree that's most likely Peter. Can't see anything with a loupe so I guess this one's without marks.

Mine has the lion in the legend which is quite different...  I think it must be the (k) type.
always willing to trade modern UK coins for modern coins from elsewhere....

Thanks Andy, yes it's seems that yours is the (k) and mine's the other.

Yours seems to be missing some large lumps of verdigris and a crease though.  :-\
