Today entire South Indian Hindu followers are celebrating/observing Vaikunta Ekadashi to remember Lord Vishnu, who is the one entrusted with the safety of earth and earthly beings.
On this auspicious day (at least for those of us who follow it) here is coin of South India with Lord Vishnu. Please note in this coin it is not any avatars of Lord Vishnu which is being depicted but of Lord himself.
Thank you for reading with patience and tolerance. Hope you enjoy this tiny coin as i enjoy it.

Splendid, RG! The illustration really adds to understanding the coin. Very appropriate subject for such a great day. Always interested in learning, that's indeed what coin collecting is all about. TFP.

Nice coin ! I have not seen many with such a combination of the depiction of the deity and title in Kannada(?) script.

Thanks, the Southern Indian scripts are not my strong point. Especially for the older coins the distinction sometimes is difficult, likely because of their common roots.
