Where do I post my unidentified coins?
« on: June 25, 2011, 12:42:08 AM »
Logical problem: if I don't know what it is, where do I post it? Short answer: on the board "Unidentified items", the third one from the top.

However ...

Please post only ONE COIN per thread. If you post several coins in the same thread, you are giving the people who want to help you a headache. We would like the forum not just to be a Q&A sort of place, but also a resource for other users. If you submit your coins one by one in separate threads, they can be filed on the right board and given a heading that will help people find examples of the type they are looking for. Identification requests with multiple coins will be moved to this board. The ones already here are mostly split up already and serve as a warning to others only: do not post multiple requests for identification in the same thread.

Also, please give us a weight for each coin. This will help much to determine the origin of the coin, as well as the denomination. If you don't have precise scales, a friendly jeweller may help, but as a coin collector, I really think it is worthwhile to buy precise scales. They are not expensive and very useful. More information here.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.
