Akbar, Copper Dam, 19.06g, Dakhil Akbarpur Chitor Mint, AH 982 (KM 28.6).
The legend for this mint would read Zarb Falus Akbarpur Dakhil Chitor and was struck when the emperor Akbar reached Chitor.
My question is the coin is dated AH 982 i.ee 1574-75 AD. Akbar conquered Chittor on February 23, 1568. Then what could be the occasion  for this coin?
I know, for Selimabad  Dakhil Ajmar, there was an argument that Dakhil meant a place inside Ajmer district which was called Selimabad. However, the the Chittor fort was  onlty 2.8 sq km and hardly there will be a space for another town inside the fort apart from the Chittor town.
Thanks,
Saikat

Nice overlay and great quality picture!

I gather that there are more often puzzles about where a mint was located, due to name changes, especially when a town was conquered. In your case, it would seem to me that at least some research should be available. I recommend a PM to oesho.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.
