Guernsey 1 double 1830

Hi all,

Thought I'd share this as the most extensive die retooling I've seen.

Should be described as G/G U/U E/E R/R N/N E/E S/S E/E Y/Y? :)

Is this common for this date?

I don't specialize in Guernsey coins, but from recently studying the 1830 and 1868 Double coins, I'd say the lettering shown above is the exception.
Notice how the baselines for the NE in GUERNESEY are closer in the first impression? The final impression looks a lot like the spacing seen on other 1830 coins, where the E is dropped below the N (below).
Just a guess, but perhaps the first impression was a trial position for the name, later fixed by the punch which appears to be used extensively for this year?
