Special coins mark Yayasan Sabah's 50th anniversary

KUALA LUMPUR, 9 May 2016:

Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) has issued commemorative coins in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of the Sabah Foundation or Yayasan Sabah.

The Sabah Foundation was founded by the late Tun Datu Mustapha Datu Harun on 10 May 1966.

In a statement today, the central bank said the main objective of launching the commemorative coins, was to enhance the socio-economic standing of all Malaysians, especially those in rural areas, through various education and economic development programmes.

The commemorative coins come in two specifications, namely coloured silver and Nordic gold brilliant uncirculated.

The coloured silver has a face value of RM10 and will be sold at RM212 a piece. The Nordic gold brilliant uncirculated has a face value of RM1 and will be sold at RM10.60 each.

These commemorative coins are also available in a set of two, consisting of the coloured silver and Nordic gold proof coins, priced at RM265.
