RBI to issue of ₹ 10 banknotes with inset letter 'L'

The Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue ₹ 10 denomination banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi Series-2005, with the inset letter 'L', bearing the signature of Dr. Raghuram G.Rajan, Governor, Reserve Bank of India, and the year of printing '2016' printed on the reverse of the banknote.

The design of these banknotes to be issued now is similar in all respects to the ₹ 10 banknotes in Mahatma Gandhi Series- 2005 issued earlier, except that the numerals in both the number panels will be in the ascending size from left to right while the first three alpha-numeric characters (prefix) will remain constant in size as revealed by the image of the note below-

Such banknotes with ascending size of numerals in the number panels have already been issued in ₹ 50, ₹ 100, ₹ 500, and ₹ 1000 denominations.

All the banknotes in the denomination of ₹ 10 issued by the Bank in the past will continue to be legal tender.

RBI to issue of ₹ 100 banknotes with inset letter 'L'

The Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue ₹ 100 denomination banknotes with three additional/revised features in the Mahatma Gandhi Series-2005, with inset letter 'L' in both the numbering panels, bearing the signature of Dr. Raghuram G. Rajan, Governor, Reserve Bank of India, and the year of printing '2015' printed on the reverse of the banknote.

The design of these banknotes to be issued now is similar in all respects to the ₹ 100 banknotes in Mahatma Gandhi Series- 2005 issued earlier. These notes will, however, have ascending size of numerals in the number panels, bleed lines, and enlarged identification mark, on the obverse. Such ₹ 100 banknotes with all three features (however, with a different inset letter) have already been put into circulation.

Reserve Bank of India had also issued ₹ 100 denomination banknotes with the ascending size of numerals in the number panels but without bleed lines and enlarged identification mark. These banknotes will remain in circulation concomitantly with the banknotes being issued now.

All the banknotes in the denomination of ₹ 100 issued by the Bank in the past will continue to be legal tender.

The banknotes will also have on the obverse, all the other security features, including ascending size of numerals (exploding fonts), bleed lines and enlarged identification mark as well as the signature of Dr. Raghuram G. Rajan, Governor, Reserve Bank of India. These banknotes will also have the year of printing '2016' printed on the reverse.
The design of these banknotes notes to be issued now is similar in all respects to the ₹ 1000 banknotes in Mahatma Gandhi Series - 2005 issued earlier.
All the banknotes in the denomination of ₹ 1000 issued by the Reserve Bank in the past will continue to be legal tender.

The design and security features of these banknotes to be issued now is similar to the ₹ 20 banknotes in Mahatma Gandhi Series- 2005 issued earlier, except the following –
Obverse
Ascending font
The numerals in both the number panels will be in ascending size from left to right while the first three alpha-numeric characters (prefix) will remain constant in size.
Intaglio printing
The numeral "20", RBI seal, Mahatma Gandhi's portrait, RBI legend, Guarantee and promise clause, Governor's signature, Ashoka Pillar emblem which were hitherto printed in intaglio (raised printing) are now being printed in offset (without any raised printing). Further, rectangular identification mark on the left of the banknote has been removed.
Colour
While there is no change in the colour at the reverse, the colour at the obverse is lighter (due to removal of intaglio printing).
Latent Image
The vertical band on the right side of the Mahatma Gandhi's portrait hitherto contained a latent image showing the denominational numeral "20".The latent image was visible only when the banknote was held horizontally at eye level. This feature is no longer present.
Reverse
There is no change in the reverse of the banknote.

The design and security features of these banknotes will be similar to the banknotes of ₹ 50 denomination with the ascending font of numerals in both the number panels issued earlier in Mahatma Gandhi Series- 2005, except the following:
Obverse
