20c consumo crescent moon and star
« on: January 06, 2016, 02:22:42 PM »
Bit confused by this one  :-\
Language appears to be Italian or Spanish.  Symbol on reverse seems to point to colony of the same or Turkey.  Please enlighten me.  Many thanks  ;D

Thanks Peter  ;D
I've found the following countries in Africa feature that symbol:
Algeria, Libya, Tunisia, Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic,  Rif Republic (192126)
You're right Libya seems favourite ;)

It is an amusement machine token of the usual size for the French and German machines.

Tokens were supplied with the machines and the customer was invited to choose the reverse design when these anonymous types were supplied for use.

I accept that Mal  ;)
But the language is Spanish or Italian? Add the design?  It must be a French/German machine in use overseas. :-\

Google Translate says the language is Spanish. I am not sure which country/colony would use Spanish in combination with using that star and crescent mono logo.

As for the machines they were probably made in France and exported.  It is a French style of token rather German.

Consumo in Italian means consumption. Spanish and Italian are closely allied languages. ;)
I'm still thinking Italian colony but I'll go with French machine. ;D

Sorry I had no idea. :(

My woodwork teacher suddenly left school and we were all tested for TB immediately after. Early 1950's.

No probs Mal ;)
I think he got infected in the mid 30's.  He lasted to the mid 60's though with half a functioning lung.  Strong stock! 8)
