The obverse of KM-78.1-V3 1975(B) can be seen in reply number 1 of this topic, having the caption "Re-engraved" below it. I do not have an example.

Here are two examples of KM-78.2 1975(C).

Very slight differences can be seen between both sides of these two KM-78.2-V5 1975(C) coins, most notably with "RUPEE" and "1975". I have deemed these to be not quite worthy of separate lines in my list. There must be other very slight varieties amongst otherwise identical pieces of KM-78.x (pieces of the same variety, date and mint).

Here are two examples of KM-78.3-V1 1981(B) these are...

KM-78.3-V1 1981(B) with long reverse border teeth (and some other slight differences)

..and..

KM-78.3-V1 1981(B) with short reverse border teeth (and some other slight differences)

In a note, the SCWC mentions these varieties for 1981 and something similar for 1982. I do not have the pair for 1982. The page on dheer's site that I mentioned earlier does show those 1982 varieties.

Finally, here is KM-78.3-V2 1980(C). Of the four pieces of 1 Rupee 1980(C) shown on Ucoin, two are KM-78.3-V1 1980(C) and two are KM-78.3-V2 1980(C). So, both are available although seldom noted.

Any comments ?

For the km#78.1-V2 (Ashoka 19 mm - Smaller mintmark & blunted start of the 5 arch)
I have found a small doubled die.. The doubling is good visible by the right corn..
Also is notching visible on the last "E" serifs from Rupee.. but not so good on my photo..
(and it's 100% sure a doubled die, so there must be more identical out there..  ;) )

Looking at the 1977(B) pieces you show. Yes, likely your second piece is KM-78.1-V4, as I have called it. However, it seems to be just a little different than my piece of that sub-type. Look at the hairs (fur) between the ears of the central lion. They are not quite so vertical on my piece. Perhaps also the overal texture to the fur everywhere - or could that be a lighting difference. "KM-78.1-V4" still seems to suitable for both your piece and mine.

What do you think about it ?

No sign of that doubling on my pieces.

Thanks Mr Paul Baker

I think they are same.. just the lighting/angle of the photo.. Got another example here which is also identical..
