Fake Uganda 1000 shilling
« on: December 11, 2015, 02:37:49 PM »
Some time ago I posted a 2002 Ugandan 1000/- as part of a thread, Soccer on coins.
http://www.worldofcoins.eu/forum/index.php/topic,9986.msg208284.html#new (reply No. 50)

I've just photographed it alongside some others and realised that it's a bad 'un.

It's glaringly obvious when compared to the others, but convincing enough in isolation.

All coins in the image shown above are genuine. Many (private) mints had a license to design/mint and issue coins for Uganda so the use of a slightly different obverse isn't strange.

The one with the football globe for example was made by the South African "Gold Reef City Mint".

The given weight in SCWC is 24.83 gr. The other three comply, the fourth comes in at 30.00 gr.
