Reference book for Venetian coins
« on: October 30, 2015, 08:10:32 PM »
I am hunting for a reference book on Venetian coins.  I believe there is one in Italian and English with a title along the lines  "The coins of the Doge's of Venice".   I am really annoyed with myself I didn't right the name down properly when I saw the book and I cant find it in google books can any one assist with the proper title and  Author?

There are several free resources for Venetian coins that can be downloaded.  Corpus Nummorum Italicorum, Volume VII at http://www.numismaticadellostato.it/web/pns/iuno-moneta/biblioteca/corpus

Paolucci's 1st edition of The Coinage of the Doges of Venice at http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/subject/7478

Note that there are NO images on Paolucci's gutenberg edition, but you can download the actual book with plates from Google at https://books.google.com/books?id=P0dmAAAAMAAJ

No idea what happened, but mine was irrelevant as you were looking for another book.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

Here is the original post you added with references from THCoins and Figleaf.

The references I added are in Italian, but Google translate works well and it is free.  Use them all the time...
