Books on British India coins
« on: September 25, 2015, 07:27:07 AM »

Which is a good book on British India coins? I am not very keen on a catalogue type of book which lists down various coins in the series with their varieties but more on one which talks about history and anecdotes behind British India coins.

Can some one recommend a book from his experience?

Thank you!

I can't think of a book on that subject. Anecdotes are spread among catalogues. One way to learn about them is to go through this board. There are some highly interesting posts here, including on subjects you wouldn't read about in a formal book, such as research efforts on real mintage. Have fun.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

I'm not aware of any either but it would be nice if one did exist. The current catalogues have some anecdotes but nothing comprehensive.
