Struck at the Oxford Story is the intriguing legend on this coin.

Charles I replica 3d coin CAROLVS D G M BRI F ET H REX rev. STRUCK AT THE OXFORD STORY aluminium 23.2mm

I found the Story Museum in Oxford which seems to fit the bill.

The biggest story in Oxford right now is unfolding in a former telephone exchange, hidden from public view. But tomorrow the doors will open. Since it was bought with £2.2m from two mysterious donors in 2009, Rochester House, in Pembroke Street, Oxford, has been transformed into a fantasy wonderland.

Can anyone tell us more?

The museum is apparently a recent addition to the Oxford attractions. It looks like they had a coin striking demo there. I remember a hammer striking demo in the York Viking museum.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

I have several of the York Viking museum coins; see here

Depends how you define recent. It was there when I was a student in the mid-1990s.

Edit: Strangely, its WP page claims it started in 2003. I am now beginning to doubt my memory. But back then, it was definitely known as The Oxford Story and not The Story Museum. Somewhere I have my Oxford Handbook from 1993 (when I started university), which would include it if it existed then.

Fosseway did you find your Oxford Handbook ???

Since i have an identical specimen on my desk at the moment.. i where a bit "Googling" regarding this piece and found this topic..  I personally think this piece where from the "Oxford Story" existing roughly from 1987 till 2007.. and not the one mentioned in the topic, so it seems that @Fosseway his memory where correct..  ;)

Yes - that's the one. Thanks for clearing that up!

I happened to be in Oxford over the weekend. The original Oxford Story building, where Malcolm's token was used, on Broad Street is now a Mountain Warehouse, but evidently not for long, since it's got a closing down sale.

"The Story Museum" is a completely separate entity, several hundred metres away on a different street.
