Earlier today I had come across this interesting snippet showing that Guernsey too taxed bicycles.

Quote:
CYCLES: On arrival, visitors must register their cycles at the States Office, North Esplanade, where a number is issued. This number must be attached to the cycle. A deposit of 2s. 6d. is required, but this deposit is refunded in full if the number is returned within a period of two months.

Found in Guernsey - The Pick of the Bunch: a tourist brochure from 1934 here

Hello everybody,
Saro, you are right, I completely mixed " La Mure " and " Lamure"
But, regarding the other informations, I think I gave the good ones : The name is " Dubosclard "; as can be seen on the original picture, the last letter is a "d" ( not clearly visible in the post ) .
On top of this, I found in the  French National Library archives ( http://gallica.bnf.fr/accueil/?mode=desktop ) the following informations extracted from an official department document : Mr Dubosclard was an " agent voyer " ( see the 1st post ) authorised to apply for retirement in 1904; this date is consistent with the date on the token.

Regarding the token itself, several french sites about bicycle tax tokens present it as a bicycle token which was attached to the frame of the bicycle.
