According to Schön's catalogue the year 1999 is indeed a little different from the years 1991 and 1997, since it has been produced at the Royal Canadian Mint.

You cannot see the mintmark because there is none. :) The catalog merely says "[RM]" for the 100 cedis 1991 and 1997, and "[RCM]" for the 1999 piece ...

No information about mint-marks on Ghana coins has been given in SCWC.(Even for the years 1991,1997,1998).(But still it is called Standard Catalog ;D ;D)
My opinion is that the 1999 issue is struck in a better manner than the '91 and '97 issue..(I have 1991,1997 issues too)

The Schön catalog will list the producing mint when they have that information, no matter whether there is a mintmark or not. (If a coin has no mintmark but the producer is known, you will usually see the abbreviation in [these] brackets.) As I wrote, the 100 cedis were made by different mints. Here is what the Schön says about that series:

5 and 10 cedis (1991 only): Royal Mint UK
20 / 50 /100 cedis (until 1997): Royal Mint UK
20 / 50 /100 cedis (1999): Royal Canadian Mint
200 and 500 cedis (1996, 1998): Royal Canadian Mint

Of course both the Krause and the Schön can be wrong from time to time. With so many pages and coins, that is kind of normal. And with both catalogs, the authors are happy about any additions and corrections. :)

I have about this on my page...

http://www.wbcc.fsnet.co.uk/af-gha.htm

I mentioned the 20 Cedis 1999 there - but I have never even seen an image of one of those.... Does anyone have one ?

My info on the 100 Cedis 1999 was added to the page in Feb-2004.

thanks Mr Paul Baker

Is 'RM' same as 'RCM'? It is possible that the earlier series of coins was struck in Paris(/Pessac?) mint, just like coins of Ethiopia,Central African States,Cameroon,West African States and Syria?

See my previous post - "RM" means Royal Mint (in the UK), and "RCM" is the Royal Canadian Mint. And the later (2007) series was made in Canada according to the Schön ...

Ghana 2007 - here is something I told someone in an e-mail in Dec-2007 to do with the Ghana coin series dated 2007...

Ghana.

Something interesting about the minter (presumably for all) and material for
one coin (and perhaps others) of this series.

Part of a newsgroup/forum sort of page.... at....

Canada To Mint New Ghana Coins

I saw a story tonight on the CBC about the Canadian Mint and its
revolutionary plating process which allows a nickel alloy to be plated onto
zinc wihout creating biohazardous waste. This is also cost efficient since
it allows cheaper metals to be used for the bulk of the coin.

One example of a coin they showed - using this process - was the new 50
pesewa piece for Ghana.

Although I couldn't find anything more about the Canada Mint and Ghana, it
appears that the Canada Mint makes coins for over 65 countries.
