Akbar,Tankas of the 3 mints , Bairata, Gobindpur and Ahmedabad (top to bottom).  Out of the 5 mints known to produce Tankas, these 3 are probably the ones within the reach of collectors. The tanka of Delhi is probably unique and rests at the british museum and tanka of Agra is also extremely rare!!

Would you say Bairata, Gobindpur and Ahmedabad are well placed within Akbar's lands for distribution throughout the empire, or were they conveniently close to copper mines? I guess Delhi and Agra produced mostly for administrative purposes, including Akbar's approval of the type.

Bairata and Gobindpur were near rich copper producing areas but that is not the case with Ahmedabad.. Wonder why only these 5 mints among almost 70 mints producing coppers coins were selected for producing the Tanka is intriguing??
