Finally the National Reserve Bank of Tonga has added the images of the new series of coins to their website.
If you click on the images below you are being redirected to a larger, high quality image of the coin.

Well-designed set, with one or two unusual and original themes.

What about the physical specifications?
Diameter, weight etc.
All the images appear to be of same size

Diameter and weight are still unknown. Unfortunately the emails that I sent to the currency manager and the governor of the National Reserve Bank about the new series of coins remained unanswered.

I asked RAM on Facebook for clearer images of the new coins, they told me they had none. What a joke.

That confirms my old belief that most of the real coins don't look as nice as they look in digital images... :-\

Otherwise, why would one go through the effort of making digital images?

I think more and more designers and minting authorities believe that if it looks good on a computer screen, it will look good on a coin. I would say that this is the equivalent of not knowing the difference between drawing and sculpting.

In addition, there is an order from PNG for commemorative coins for Pacific Games, to be held in July 2015. No details of denomination are available but I am hoping for 2 Kina circulating commemorative since circulation mintages are typically in few tens of thousands.

Since issued.
