Russian Asia fantasies
« on: June 14, 2012, 04:35:03 PM »
Recently, 'coins' of Chechnya Republic have appeared in market. ::) Saw a couple of listings on e-bay for $25 or so (set of 7: 10, 20, 50 kopeks and 1, 2, 5, 10 Roubles; all dated 2012)..and none of them are bimetallic!

Won't post the e-bay link here but can't find any pictures elsewhere. But will definitely keep you all updated. ;)

These Chechnya fantasies look similar to the Tatarstan fantasies. Probably the producers/artists are the same.

Tatarstan.

More. I think they've seen the success with the Chchnya coins, and they are trying to do it again. They are more expensive than other sets...

I was wondering when the fantasy-pushers would return to Russia. Chechnya has been done. On August 11th I suggested Crimea and Siberia, two very different regions, as subjects. Let's wait and see.

It seems there are no ethnic Japanese on the Kuril Islands these days, so Japan won't be getting them back.

At least on the new stuff they have corrected that annoying mistake they made earlier with the so called 2 and 3 roubles. On them the denomination should be "rublya" instead of "rubley". The mint making these has probably found someone who actually speaks Russian to help them  ;D
