« on: January 20, 2015, 04:12:27 PM »
Portugal will issue two commemorative €2 coins this year (not counting common issues)

* Red Cross (Cruz Vermelha Portuguesa) founded 150 years ago
* 500th anniversary of the First Portuguese Landing in Timor

Yes, I think these are official. Have seen them elsewhere as well, that is. :)  What I do not quite understand is the "Red Cross" anniversary. In 2013 Portugal issued a €2.50 collector coin dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the Portuguese Red Cross ... and two years later they issue another one? Hmm.

Edit - Sorry, my bad. The 2013 coin commemorated the 150th anniversary of the Int'l Red Cross.

I think, in 2013 Portugal issued a € 2.50 collector coin dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the International Committee of the Red Cross

Right, see my "Edit" note - this was a mistake in the catalog that I use. By the way, first I thought the Timor coin showed two ships. Nah, I was wrong again. ;)  I learned that this is the top of an top of an uma lulik, a sacred house. Here are some images ...

... and this page has both some background info and (if you scroll down) more photos:

The "First Portuguese Contact with Timor" coin was designed by Fernando Fonseca; the designer of the "Red Cross" coin is António Marinho. Each coin will have a mintage of 500,000.
