The Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue banknotes in ₹ 50 denomination in Mahatma Gandhi Series - 2005, with the numerals in both the number panels in ascending size from left to right while the first three alpha-numeric characters(prefix) will remain constant in size. The banknotes will also have inset letter 'R'. The bank notes will bear the signature of Dr. Raghuram G.Rajan, Governor, Reserve Bank of India, and the year of printing '2015' printed on the reverse. The design of these bank notes being issued now is similar in all other respects to the ₹ 50 banknotes in Mahatma Gandhi Series - 2005 issued earlier.

I meant to say, Telescopic started first with Rs 100 and then Rs 500 and this is the first issue of Rs 10.

I can confirm existence of ₹1000 banknote too. That leaves only ₹1, ₹5 and ₹50 notes...I wonder if it will be applied for ₹1 and ₹5 (if they are planning to print them) notes as there aren't much counterfeits in these denominations...

Made a typo in reply 10, it should be Rs 50 instead of Rs 10.

RBI to issue ₹ 500 banknotes with inset letter L

The Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue ₹500 denomination Banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi Series - 2005 with inset letter 'L' in both the numbering panels. The notes will bear the signature of Dr. Raghuram G. Rajan, Governor, Reserve Bank of India, and the year of printing '2015' printed on the reverse of the Banknote. The design of these notes to be issued now is similar in all respects to the ₹500 Banknotes in Mahatma Gandhi Series - 2005 issued earlier, including the additional features, namely, the ascending size of numerals in the number panels, bleed lines and enlarged identification mark on the obverse. The notes with these features were introduced for the first time in September 2015.

All the Banknotes in the denomination of ₹500 issued by the Reserve Bank in the past will continue to be legal tender.
