Thank you. A good subject at this time and certainly a core European value. Well chosen symbolism, connecting pencils with birds of freedom. My only suggestion would be to make the pencils progressively smaller as they approach the centre of the coin to suggest depth and add to the power of the symbols.

Agreed, an interesting and attractive design. We may never see that on a coin, but it would be great if we could.

Better this way:

"Es lebe die europäische Freiheit der Meinungsäußerung!"

Or shorter:

"Es lebe die europäische Meinungsfreiheit!"

I'd say

"Long live European freedom of expression", without "the" in front of European. Sort of sounds better, even if the grammar might not say so.
