It looks like the same punch on both sides and the punch looks like a cross potent. This is a much used heraldic symbol, noted for its use in the arms of the Teutonic knights and Portugal. However, I am not aware of any official counterstamps on these coins. It may just have been someone trying out his new punch on a cheap coin...
