A collection of Danish Tranquebar fake coins...
« on: November 29, 2014, 11:26:33 AM »
More Munten- en PostzegelOrganisatie (MPO) junk.  Seems their whole Indian collection is plagued with fakes. Here are some Tranquebar fakes.  Don't run into these that often on auction sites (ebay not included):

Most auction sites are not evil, but naive is a good word.  Buying coins out of their league is not a good business practice.  Rummaging through their offerings clearly shows a large portion of their coins are fake.  It doesn't help their customer base with that many fakes and discourages bidders.  I monitored their auction this morning and most of their items were not bid upon.  That is not a good sign...

They seem to have branched out well beyond what I am used to. The id's are stronger than I remember. Some items are described as "fantasy" and I also had funny feelings with some coins, though I miss the expertise for an in-depth comment. MPO seems to have changed since my last "contact" with them, so I deleted my previous post, based on old experience.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.
