The sun panel detracts from the message, because it is not directly connected to food production. You can easily change that by turning it into the roof of a hothouse.

version IV...

hexagons = bee-keeping, the basis of food production ... squares = photovoltaic panels, the base of the clean energy of the future.

To be honest I don't like this one. I doubt anyone would get the significance either. Possibly you could use these patterns as some sort of background.

It looks too basic, doesn't really make me say wow.

Here's the actual one, which I don't really like either.

Ah, Sandro Sassoli's "world currency". Admittedly it was not easy for me to understand Giulia Arena's English right away, but there it is. :) The medal was designed, as well as some previous ones with a similar appearance, by Luc Luycx and Laura Cretara.

To me a sun panel would make sense, as the Expo is not about nutrition only, but it is difficult to recognize, especially on a small surface such as the pill of a 2 coin. But I must say that I had that mental vision of a chocolate bar too, hehe.

I missed that energy aspect. I thought it was the food that was supposed to provide the energy. I do like the last entry. It does a very good job conveying the idea. My taste is more towards the somewhat stylised, something that is not a photo converted by computer.
