A lovely coin with nice toning.

The date on the coin ie AH 1040, corresponds to the year when Shah Jahan's beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal, died during childbirth. A heart-broken Shah Jahan soon commenced building the TAJ MAHAL as a memorial for the love of his life.

Burhanpur, the place where this coin was minted, is also the place where Mumtaz Mahal died on 17 June 1631 AD.
