Solid design. The Swedish flag background is a nice invention. You may want to put some more relief in the hair. On a real coin, the king would look bald.

This design is rather similar to the proposed design the Swedes circulated in 2001.

Congratulations ... to both. :)  Since we are talking about Sweden and the euro, I guess it would be more realistic to modify the portrait again - and use the inscription VICTORIA SVERIGES DROTTNING instead ...

That was a joke, to some extent at least. ;)  I do not think that Sweden will introduce the euro any time in the foreseeable future - and the next Swedish head of state will be Queen Victoria ...

As for using the ring for design elements other than the Stars of Europe, well, I am all for it, and I like the way you built the Swedish flag in there. But it seems the trend is going in the opposite direction.

Maybe I'm just too much of a realist - which is not exactly the right approach, I know, when it comes to dealing with fantasy designs. Just bear with me, and keep on designing and posting the results. :)

Why is the lower crown larger than the upper crowns?

Interesting. I have never noticed the different sizes before, but apparently it's official ...
