I have trouble to place this coin, douzain?
The I against the left of the shield.....

1,26 gram, 23 mm

obv: crowned city arms (spread eagle) between I and S (denomination) PACE.ET.BELLO.CONSTANS. - loyal in peace and war.
rev: cross with open centre in four-lobed decoration within decorated circle MONeta.NOVA.REIPublica.DAVEntriae new money of the state. Deventer.

 :o I feel stupid. All day I'm busy with french douzain coins I bought, this one was also in the lot and with thinking I was looking at it as an douzain.
(i even can't see that this coin is struck 4 kilometers from my house)

I don;t have the verkade, but I have offcourse the "de vorstelijke eb de stedelijke muntslag te deventer" from Fortuyn droogleever.

After looking very good I can read 1588, so nr 78 in that catalog.

Been there, done that. It's human, not stupid. The motto of the kings of France is SIT NOMEN DOMINI BENEDICTVM, which contains no ON combination, making it unlikely that the coin is French. The rest is history ;)
