Akbar Nisfi of Kabul mint dated Ilahi 32

To add to previous posts on WoC which showed such half dam dated Ilahi 33,  here there is one with Ilahi 32.

Dear Saro,

Nice one..... Mint almost fully on the coin - a rare sight in Akbar's coppers.

However, I have one (I hope not a stupid) question: reverse reads (from top) Ilahi 32 sanah...........

Is'nt it strange to see the sanah and the Ilahi at the same time? May be one of the earliest issues when they had the switch from AH to Ilahi.........  and no month...........

Dear Amit,
Your remark is of course not stupid !  we can  find"sanah" added to "Ilahi" on Kabul nisfi (both Ilahi 32 & 33), so that on dams of Ilahabas dated "sanah Ilahi 31"; may be that was in use only on early Ilahi issues  later the word "sanah" disappears...

Wow! I missed this... Great one Bernard sir. I have ilahi 33. 1 point to remember that although being one of farthest mints from capital at Agra, Kabul was one of the earliest to issue ilahi coins. Earlier than Agra and Delhi.. That is what is very interesting..

This thread came top when I searched for this coin,
but it leads to a question - why were these better made than other coppers at the time?

Better made and ahead of their time (see upthread) suggest the presence of an interested member of the imperial family, if not the Mughal in person, to me.
