Hi,

since I'm not documented for Chinese coins and have no real knowledge of them, I've decided to let all of you try to identify the coins, I'll be showing here.

weight: 3.97
diameter: 25.42
thickness: 1.19

Thanks for your help

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

Thanks for all of them, Peter,

I have a few more, but they'll now wait for my Remmelts book...

Good thinking, Ole. I am sure you will like the book, especially when you identified a few coins yourself. Do remember that it's just an introduction, but I don't think you want to specialise in Chinese cash coins.

It is quite possible to find really old Chinese coins at a low price. The cash coins were used on strings, so most of them were not visible individually. It was only when they were quite old that the Chinese would take an interest in individual coins. They were kept for good luck, not unlike old coins and counters, pierced and used as charms and amulets. Another factor to keep the coins cheap is that they were used as decorations or "sacrifice" on old Chinese graves. Grave robbers made sure they would get into the hands of collectors.

Right Peter,

I'll certainly not specialize in Chinese coins, but it happens that I get hold of some, and then they normally just go into a waiting box. Since my German is quite good (25 years of practise) the recommended and now bought book will certainly be helpful in the future.

You don't even need German for Remmelts. The few words he uses can easily be found with Google translate.
