That's disgracefully hairist. Some people have wavy hair - it grows like that naturally when it gets longer.

I actually meant to comment on the accuracy of the coin design and not a comment on JFK's grooming habits. Obviously I failed.

Personally I never viewed as anything other than natural.

The hairdo is OK with me. :)  By the way, the second version - with the two dates (1964 · 2014) - I do not like that much.

Yes, the 1964-2014 is rather peculiar, as it is strangely self-referential. A coin commemorating a coin? If it's not going to focus on Kennedy, then just date it for the year of issue. ::)
We enjoyed having you. We hope you enjoyed being had.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

Separately, note the the details of the drawing texture of the fur collar  and different clothing materials.

QuoteSome buyers said they were paid as much as $600 to stand in line for the coins.
Quote"Crazy, bananas. B-A-N-A-N-A-S," said one successful man, as police worked to keep the crowd calm. "I got trampled, I fell down, I got back up. Because I'm a soldier."

Close to mass hysteria. What are they thinking? Get rich quickly?

Seems so, yes. There have apparently been similar lines in Philadelphia (Mint) and Chicago (ANA Money Fair). Ils sont fous les Américains. ;D  Attached is an image (from the US Mint site) of the gold half dollar. As we already know, the piece does not commemorate the 50th anniversary of Kennedy's death last year but fifty years of the Kennedy half dollar design.

Don't quite understand the hype; here is a bit from Numismatic News: "Spurred on by news that proof gold Kennedy half dollars purchased at the U.S. Mint booth for $1,240 can be sold ungraded and unslabbed for $3,400 on the bourse floor (...)" And then this: "The United States Mint also announced it has suspended sales of the John F. Kennedy Gold Proof Half Dollar at its three retail locations—Philadelphia, Denver and Washington, D.C.—after Aug. 7. The Mint made this decision to ensure the safety of those wanting to purchase the coin and the safety of its own employees."

The odd part is, if you can wait another month, you may order the coin from the US Mint now and get it in early/mid September. The mint decided to issue an "initial inventory of 40,000 coins". OK, there's the limit ... however, they will also "evaluate sales activity during the first week and make adjustments to its production schedule accordingly." ::)
